We are accredited under the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) by Avon & Somerset Constabulary.

The CSAS scheme gives our Community Response Officers and Environmental Crime Officer some of the same powers as a Police Community Support Officer.

Currently, our officers have been CSAS accredited with the following powers:

  • To have access to and share information and intelligence with Avon and Somerset Constabulary
  • Power to require name and address for anti-social behaviour
  • Power to stop cycles if they are suspected of having committed the offence of riding on a footpath.
  • Power to control traffic for purposes other than escorting a load of exceptional dimensions and also for purposes of conducting a traffic survey

It is an offence to:

  • fail or refuse to provide an Accredited Person with your name and address
  • assault an Accredited Person or person assisting them
  • obstruct an Accredited Person or person assisting them.
