Community safety patrol officers

We have a team of Community Safety Patrol Officers who provide a uniformed patrolling presence across North Somerset to:

  • tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) and disorder
  • provide intelligence to the council and our partner agencies such as the police
  • promote a safe and welcoming place for those who work, live and visit the town.

What our Community Safety Patrol Officers can do

Our patrol officers have powers delegated by North Somerset Council which enables them to enforce the Public Space Protection Orders across North Somerset.

These Public Space Protection Orders enable Community Safety Patrol Officers to tackle anti-social behaviour issues such as:

  • begging
  • uncontrolled dogs and dog fouling
  • street drinking
  • youth nuisance
  • littering
  • rowdy and inconsiderate behaviour in public places.

Our Community Safety Patrol Officers also provide help and support to the community by:

  • providing information and advice
  • helping people who are lost or injured
